SIB Admission Process

The British International Section (SIB) is open to all LFIB students subject to a satisfactory overall standard and proven competences in English.

Nevertheless, the SIB program requires a lot of extra work and additional class hours. The students who have chosen this section must be motivated and be capable of managing the workload. They should also read regularly and habitually.

Admission procedure

The Headmaster (and the Primary School Director for the CM students applying for the SIB in 6ème) verifies the aptitude of the students who apply for the and consults the members of the International Section Council (Conseil de Section International – CSI). The CSI meets and approves the admission according to the requirements stipulated in Article D421-133 of the French Education Code.

  • Teachers in the SIB section
  • Representatives of parents of the students in the SIB section
  • Languages coordinators of the Primary and the Secondary Schools and the language teacher-trainer for the Secondary School. 

Members of the CSI for 3ème students applying for 2nde SIB 

  • The Headmaster
  • Teachers in the SIB section
  • Class teachers of 3ème
  • Representatives of parents of the students in the SIB section
  • Language coordinator and the language teacher-trainer of the Secondary School. 

Three steps of admission

  1. Application and oral test

All students wishing to join the SIB must complete the online application form and upload a video of self presentation in English.

Points of consideration

No textreading, fluidity of expression, grammar structure and vocabulary richness and motivation in line with the SIB expectations

2. Written tests

Duration 90 minutes
Content Written comprehension of a literary text and written expression
Points of consideration

Compliance with instructions, fluidity of expression, grammar structure and vocabulary richness and language accuracy

3. Admission

After the CSI’s meeting, the decision will be communicated to the parents.

Les dates clés : 
12/04/2024 Last day for registrations and submission of videos.
01/05/2024 Written tests for pre-registered students
14/05/2024 Conseil de Section Internationale’s meeting for validation of applications

NOTE :

  • The procedure is the same for students newly enrolled at LFIB before 03/09/2024, the date of the start of the school year. The written tests will be organised on a case by case basis.
  • Application for the SIB of any new student enrolled after the CSI meeting on June 2024 will be examined at the beginning of the school year in September may be subject to availability of seats.
  • Any new student arriving during the academic year will not be able to join the SIB. An application must be submitted according to the agenda for the next school year.
  • Any new student from a British International Section arriving during the academic year will be able to join the SIB, subject to the availability of seats and the student’s academic record showing an aptitude level to pursue the program.
