Thai language courses

From CP grade, the whole pupils of LFIB attend a mandatory 1H/week Thai language course.

LFIB also proposes an additional training, out of academic time (after 2:10 p.m.), up to 3h/week (enhanced Thai language).

Thaïlandais obligatoire (Thaï OB)

The purpose of this course is to propose to all pupils an initiation to Thai language and culture, through projects allowing the reinvestment of their knowledge.

According to Thai regulations, study of Thai language is mandatory.

Thaïlandais renforcé (Thaï Renf.)

The purpose of this course is to deepen Thai language knowledge and to reinforce pupils’ communication abilities. Written language fluency is full part of the purpose of these courses, and involves the pupils to speak Thai language. Thaïlandais renforcé (4H) is mandatory for children whose two parents have the Thai nationality.

Thaïlandais renforcé program at Primary level is linked to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and takes into account the requirements of Thai programs, specifically aimed at Thai pupils who are enrolled in international schools. The targeted levels start from A1 to pre-B1 for speaking, and depend on the duration of each pupil’s exposure to the language.

Teachers encourage a communicative approach. Learning is provided through communicative activities based on experience that are reactivated through various projects, notably cultural ones.

All the pupils choosing the Thaï renforcé for the first time are tested in September, in order to evaluate their fluency in spoken and written language.

Applicable timetables for children who attend enhanced Thai option.
